How do I get my spectacle prescription?

You should have your eyesight tested by an optician. After your eye examination your optician is obliged to give you a form with your prescription shown in a format similar to the ones below;

Do you supply all types of spectacles?

Pricelesspecs will supply lenses where the combined spherical (sph) and cylindrical (cyl) powers do not exceed 8 dioptres and where the cylindrical power does not exceed 4 dioptres. Pricelesspecs supply bifocal lenses at an additional charge of £18.00. We use D28 bifocal lenses positioned 3mm below the centre of the frame. If your prescription details are not suitable for the power ranges we supply, we will advise you immediately.

Do you supply varifocals/progressive lenses?

Not at the moment. There are many brands of varifocals/progressive lenses and many variable measurements. We are planning to introduce the technology at a later date.

what type of lenses can I have?

Pricelesspecs use lightweight CR39 lenses for most of our spectacles. For rimless spectacles we use polycarbonate "thin" lenses. They are all supplied with a scratch resistant coating as standard.
If your prescription is greater than +3.00 sph or -3.00 sph you may wish to have " thinner" lenses. You can select these from our drop down menus.

1.60 index 30% thinner £38.00 extra
1.67 index 40% thinner £66.00 extra

Both "thinner" types of lenses are suitable for all our frames and come with an anti-reflection coating as standard.
It is not possible to have Bifocal lenses in a 1.67 lens material.

Can I have anti-reflection coating?

Yes you can select to have an anti-reflection coating on all lenses at an extra charge of £18.00 (1.60 thinner lenses and 1.67 thinner lenses have anti-reflection coating as standard and this is included in the price).

Anti-reflection coatings allow your eyes to be more visible and reduce reflections. They can also improve visual comfort.

Can I have my lenses tinted?

All our standard lenses can be tinted for £8.00 extra. You can select a light fashion tint or a dark sunglass tint from our drop down menu. The sunglass tint is available in brown or grey only and can be purchased for £10.00 extra. An Anti-reflection coating can be supplied over a tint if required.
Also available are lenses that react to light in either grey or brown tint. These are £46.00 extra. They are available for standard single vision lenses and bifocal lenses. They are not currently available in 1.60 thinner and 1.67 thinner lens materials. New lens technology will enable Pricelesspecs to offer these products next year.

How should I clean my lenses?

Pricelesspecs supply a cleaning cloth with every order. Use this daily to keep your lenses clear. Every other day wash your spectacles in warm soapy water, rinse well and dry with a clean kitchen roll.

top

Can I have plain lenses in my frames?

Yes. Pricelesspecs supply optically perfect plain lenses so your spectacles will be the same price as prescription spectacles.

top

How long before I receive my spectacles?

Pricelesspecs has its own laboratory and does not subcontract, so your spectacles could arrive within 7 to 10 working days. Our terms state that you should allow up to 15 working days, and for certain combinations of optional extras (eg bifocal light-react lenses with anti-reflection coating) your spectacles could take that long. On receipt of your order we will advise you of an approximate due date.

We also offer an Express Service if you need your spectacles in a hurry. There is an extra charge for this and certain restrictions apply (click on Express Service on our home page for further details) But you could have your spectacles in as little as 3 working days!!!

top

How will my order be dispatched?

Your spectacles will be sent by royal mail post in a box. The box will require a signature on delivery. You can choose to have your spectacles sent to another delivery address and not your home address.

top

What are the postage and packing costs?

Pricelesspecs charge £2.50 postage and packing per pair of spectacles. If you opt for Express delivery there will be a special delivery charge of £7.50.

top

What if my spectacles need adjustment?

Pricelesspecs is run by dispensing opticians who have had many years experience in fitting frames. They will personally check your order before dispatch and ensure that your frame is properly aligned. If you need a minor adjustment, most optical stores will have a dispensing optician who will correct this for you. There may be a small charge for this.

How are you able to supply spectacles so cheaply?

We are an optical laboratory that deals directly with frame and lens manufacturers. The quality of our frames and lenses is exactly the same as you would purchase from the high street optician.
We do not have the overheads of a retail high street optician and therefore can pass huge savings directly to you.
